Ancient future body architecture

Ange Mathieu in the studio

I don't see tattoos as something you place on the body.
I think they should feel like they belong there, as if they had always been part of the person wearing them.

Practice

Every tattoo starts long before the needle touches the skin.

For me, tattooing isn't the practice.
It's just one of the ways I express it.

The practice is paying attention.

To who you are.
To how you move.
To what your body is already saying before I draw the first line.

Portrait of Ange Mathieu

I pay attention to movement, balance, light, negative space and all the little details that most people walk past.

I'm not interested in following trends or making the loudest tattoos in the room.
I'm interested in creating work that still feels true years from now.

Some ideas come quickly.
Others take days.

I've learned not to fight that.
Good work can't be rushed.

When the tattoo no longer feels applied.
It simply feels right.

Every project starts with listening.

Who you are.
What brought you here.
What you want to carry.
What deserves to remain.

No design is taken from a catalogue. Every piece is developed around the person who will wear it, around movement, balance and the architecture of the body.
